Certification Registry Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ASQ Certification Verification Registry?

The ASQ Certification Registry is an up-to-date record of individuals who have earned an ASQ Certification and (where applicable) have maintained it through recertification. The Certification Registry has replaced the previous practice of publishing static certification pass lists online. ASQ's Certification Registry makes it easy for potential employers and others to verify an individual's certification and helps to protect the integrity of your hard-earned credential(s). Click here to use the ASQ Certification Registry.

What Information is Included in The ASQ Certification Registry?

The ASQ Certification Registry will include only those individuals that have an "Active" status certification and the following information will be listed:

  • Certificate number
  • Certification holder's first and last name
  • Country, City/State of their primary address
  • Credential and date earned
  • Certification status

No personal contact information, such as email, street address, or phone number, are included in the registry. Inclusion in the registry is voluntary. If you have an active certification and prefer not to be listed in the certification registry, you are able to opt out within your ASQ account and your information will not be included. Certified individuals will be opted in by default but are able to opt in or out of the certification registry at any time. Due to GDPR law, all EU residents will need to access their ASQ account and opt in to be included.

Why is ASQ Creating a Certification Registry?

Becoming certified is a point-in-time achievement. The ASQ Standards require 18 recertification units attained through continuing professional development activities for most professional certifications to ensure the certified individual's knowledge and skills remain current. Individuals who do not maintain the recertification requirement may not claim the certificaiton status or use the credential(s) after their name. A Certification Registry makes it easy for potential employers and others to verify an individual's certification.

What is the Requirement to be Included in the Certification Registry?

Individuals must have an active certification status to be included in the Certification Registry.

How Can I Check My Certification Status?

Check your certification status by logging into your ASQ Certification Account at www.asq.org/cert, selecting "My Account," and then selecting "My Certifications" from the left menu. See the chart below for status definitions:

Status Definition Use of Certification
Certified (Active) An individual has achieved certification status AND has reported the required 18 Recertification Units. May demonstrate certification with inclusion in a certification registry, business card, or other documents.
Inactive An individual has not reported the required 18 Recertification Units. May not claim certification (remove from business cards and documents).
Retired An individual is no longer in the workforce. May not claim certification until reinstated.
What if I Have an "Inactive" Status and Would Like to be Included in the Certification Registry?

Candidates who have an "inactive" status will not be included on the Certification Registry. To be included, candidates must pass the exam again.

If I am Pursuing an ASQ Certification, Will I be Included in the Certification Registry?

What is the Benefit of Being Listed on the Certification Registry?
