Application to join TAG 69

In the United States, TAG 69 develops the U.S. positions on international standardization activities of ISO/TC 69 on applications of statistical methods.

The scope of ISO/TC 69: Standardization in the application of statistical methods, including generation, collection (planning and design), analysis, presentation and interpretation of data. Valid statistical inferences can be drawn only from data that satisfies specific assumptions. Statistical standards provide standard methods for collection of data, and statistical analysis and interpretation of that data in accordance with stipulated criteria that have undergone the gauntlet of peer review by qualified experts and a critical system of due process for adoption as international standards.

Subcommittees under TC 69 work on standards in:

  • Terminology and Symbols
  • Application of Statistical methods in Standardization
  • Statistical Process Control
  • Acceptance Sampling
  • Measurement methods and results

The newest subcommittee will devote its time to developing statistical techniques for the Six Sigma community.

Delegates selected by the TAG actively participate in the international activities of ISO/TC 69. Participation in TAG 69 provides an opportunity for representatives of all affected U.S. constituencies (industry, commerce, non-governmental organization (NGO), education, government, etc.) to influence the development of international environmental standards that have become a foundation of international trade.

Books

The Desk Reference of Statistical Quality Methods, Second Edition
Arranged in alphabetical order for quick reference, this book provides the quality practitioner with a single resource that illustrates, in a practical manner, how to execute specific statistical methods frequently used in the quality sciences. Each method is presented in a stand-alone fashion and includes computational steps, application comments, and a fully illustrated brief presentation on how to use the tool or technique.

Zero Acceptance Number Sampling Plans, Fifth Edition
This revised edition emphasizes the use of the updated military standard, MIL-STD-105E, as a guide in developing inspection strategies. A small lot sampling plan has also been added. These plans have found wide use in many industries where lot-by-lot attribute sampling exists, regardless of product.

Process Quality Control: Troubleshooting and Interpretation of Data, Fourth Edition

For decades this classic text has provided readers everything they need to know related to the statistics of process quality control. It provides the knowledge to use statistics in both preventing problems and also learning to cure them.

Statistical Process Control Methods for Long and Short Runs, Second Edition
This basic, step-by-step guide for SPC has been revised to include the most up-to-date information on control charts, capability analysis, and statistical problem solving. Practice problems and answers allow the reader to work through SPC exercises.

The Handbook of Applied Acceptance Sampling: Plans, Procedures and Principles
Written in clear and understandable terms, this handbook provides a modern and applied approach to the subject of acceptance sampling and inspection. Loaded with numerous examples and illustrations to guide you, The Handbook of Applied Acceptance Sampling: Plans, Procedures, and Principles helps to make many of the mainstream principles and evaluation tools of this quality method straightforward and easy to understand.

ANSI/ASQ Z1.4-2008 and ANSI/ASQ Z1.9-2008: The Set, including Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes AND Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Variables for Percent Nonconforming (e-standard)

ANSI/ASQ Z1.4-2008 Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes is an acceptance sampling system to be used with switching rules on a continuing stream of lots for Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) specified. It provides tightened, normal, and reduced plans to be applied for attributes inspection for percent nonconforming or nonconformities per 100 units.

ANSI/ASQ Z1.9-2008 Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Variables for Percent Nonconforming is an acceptance sampling system to be used on a continuing stream of lots for Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) specified. It provides tightened, normal, and reduced plans to be used on measurements which are normally distributed. Variation may be measured by sample standard deviation, sample range, or known standard deviation. It is applicable only when the normality of the measurements is assured.

ANSI/ISO/ASQ: 3534-1:2006: Statistics -- Vocabulary and symbols -- Part 1

This part of ISO 3534 defines general statistical terms and terms used in probability which may be used in the drafting of other International Standards.

ISO 3534-2

ANSI/ISO/ASQ: 3534-2:2006: Statistics -- Vocabulary and symbols -- Part 2

This part of ISO 3534 defines applied statistics terms, and expresses them in a conceptual framework in accordance with ISO normative terminology practice. Term entries are arranged thematically. An alphabetical index is provided.
