ASQ Software Division Region 13 Report for 4Q2007

The 2007 International Conference on Software Quality was held on October 16 and 17, 2007 at the Sheraton Denver West, Lakewood, CO. Section 1300 Denver former Chair, Granville Jones, was ISQC 2007 co-chair of this event, along with Linda Westfall. The theme of the conference is “Delivering High Performance through Software”. Keynote speakers are Ken Schwaber and Dr. Richard Turner. Mr. Schwaber, along with Jeff Sutherland, is co-developer of Scrum, which is an Agile product/process development process. Dr. Turner serves as a Fellow at the Systems and Software Consortium, and has significant government, industry and academic experience in systems, software and acquisition engineering. Joint Colorado Section and Software Division meetings were held on the evenings of October 16 and 17, involving Section 1300 Denver, Section 1309 Northern Colorado and Section 1313 Boulder.

Section 1301 Kansas City held a workshop on November 17, entitled, “Alt Control Delete: How to reboot your IT organization in World Class Mode”. The speaker was David Longstreet, founder of Longstreet Consulting. Mr. Longstreet is a software economist and consultant, with over 20 years of IT experience. His workshop focused on more effective alignment of metrics with behaviors, in order to improve the implementation of quality programs in IT.
