ASQ Software Division Region 10 Report for 2Q2007
by Louise Tamres
As the new Regional Councilor for Region 10, I’m currently establishing contact with various groups and professional societies. If you have information to share with other members or you need assistance in software quality related matters, contact me at l.tamres@computer.org.
Southeastern Michigan has an active community with ASQ and IEEE chapters. Other groups of interest are the Great Lakes SPIN which meets the second Thursday of the month at Oakland University in Rochester. Information about programs and events is at http://www.gl-spin.org/.
Ann Arbor Software Quality Professionals (AASQP) meets monthly for dinner conversation. An archive of messages is available at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/aa-sqp/.
I will report back on other organizations throughout Michigan and northern Ohio in the next bulletin.
This past October 2006 saw the successful launch of the Great Lakes Software Excellence Conference held in Grand Rapids. This conference was organized by the ASQ and XP West Michigan. Work is already under way for presenting the next conference. Learn more about this event at http://www.glsec.org/.
Some local software quality professionals have volunteered to offer a set of courses in the Detroit/Southfield area, tentatively aimed for early 2008. Watch this space for more information.
