Position: Software Quality Manager
Location: New York, New York

Position Description:

As the Senior regional representative of the Global Quality Manager TIS (Technical Infrastructure Services), the Regional Quality Manager Americas is responsible for improving overall operational effectiveness through implementation of industry standard best practices. Overall goal of this role is setting up, executing and reporting on an assessment process of workproduct quality and on adherence to IT Project Management and IT Operations Processes as part of a global implementation. Key responsibility is to raise process awareness and process maturity in the area of Solution Engineering and IT Operations by communicating and interacting with teams, management, employees, other departments, and vendor representatives as necessary. Position may also require a high level interface with business segments as needed.

This position is NYC based. It reports to the Global Quality Manager TIS in Zurich.

The position requires limited traveling i.e. less than 10%.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the implementation of Process Management in general and Project Management Processes in particular.
  • Act as a roll-out agent for Policies, Quality, Portfolio, Project Management as well as IT Operations processes
  • Provide regional support and coaching for Process Owners, Project Management and IT Operations staff as well as for Line Management.
  • Conduct or assist in project status review meetings.
  • Review quality planning, quality assurance, and quality improvement, as well as risk management of projects.
  • Ensure regional control of process & policy adherence (metrics).
  • Plan, train members on, perform and report on Process Assessments (Projects and Internal Organizational Unit).
  • Manage Subject Matter Expert teams and quality circle and quality forums.
  • Identify opportunities for process and quality improvement.

Experience and Skills Required/Desired:

  Required Work Experience:

  • 8 + years project management or quality management experience within a Technology Infrastructure environment.
  • Significant experience with process engineering focused on organizational change.
  • Experience driving overall quality improvement efforts within a large, complex organization.
  • Project Management and/or quality management background (IT or Business) preferably in IT.
  • Proven track record in using people, technology, and processes, to drive superior performance within an organization.

  Required Technical/Business Skills and Knowledge:

  • The ability to deal successfully with the complexities of a matrix organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to communicate and negotiate across all levels of an organization.
  • High degree of self motivation.
  • The selected person must be flexible.
  • Must have a high degree of people skills.
  • Effective communicator with superior speaking, writing and listening skills.
  • Process Engineering for IT and Business processes, possibly Operational Excellence (Six Sigma Background).

  Desirable Technical/Business Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of relevant professional IT frameworks (CMMI, ITIL, SOX, …).
  • Knowledge of project management standards and bodies of knowledge (PMBOK, Prince2,…).
  • Knowledge of quality management standards and bodies of knowledge (ISO 9001, ISO 9003, ISO 15504, ISO 19011, SWEBOK chapter 12).
  • Knowledge of process excellence methodologies such as Six Sigma, EFQM, MBNQA.

  Required Education and Professional Qualifications:

  • College degree required.
  • Formal project management training with in-depth understanding of project management and methodology principles  with respective certifications such as IPMA or PMP.
  • Equivalent education/experience, proof of professionalism, and demonstrable understanding of the ASQ CMA/OE Body of Knowledge (BoK) as to be certified as a CMQ/OE.

  Desirable Education and Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in math, sciences, or engineering preferred. An advanced University degree (e.g. MBA; MS), and/or financial services knowledge would be of advantage.
  • IPMA, PMP, Prince 2 or other equivalent project management certifications.
  • Manager of Quality/Organization Excellence Certification - CMQ/OE (ASQ) or Quality System Manager (EOQ).
