Lansing/Jackson Section 1008 and Capital Quality Initiative
Several years ago our ASQ Section began collaborating with the Capital Quality Initiative at Lansing Community College to offer programs to members of both groups. Lansing Community College ended their support of CQI in June, when faced with a financial deficit. Community and business members formed a Transition Team which has been working hard since then to forge new partnerships and create a new CQI.
When the CQI Transition Team met in October they elected to focus time and energy over the next few months to transform the organization, taking time to better understand their customer and define their value proposition.
It is evident that there is a lot of passion for a new CQI succeeding. Many people have voiced support for transforming CQI into an organization that better fits the current state of our community. There is a need for CQI to deliver even more value to our community; helping organizations to improve performance and the bottom line. This type of transformation takes more energy than maintaining the status quo and the work of new volunteer committees will be critical over the next few months.
The CQI Advisory Board will give us the strategic direction we need to succeed. With a focus on developing a new strategy, this means that we will be rescheduling the November and December events with Bill Bellows and the Quality Fair to the first part of 2010.
With community and business support, CQI looks forward to serving customers (including ASQ) in new and better ways. If you are interested in being involved in this re-creation, please contact Adrian Bass at adrianbass@sbcglobal.net
