Journal for Quality and Participation vol. 31 issue 4 - January 2009
Abstract:Organizations today are under increasing pressure to find ways to operate more efficiently while retaining the ability to respond quickly to the changing needs and demands of the business environment. In the quest for innovative responses, there is a growing awareness of the importance of human resources (HR) and strategic human resource management (SHR). An overview of traditional HR is provided, and recommendations are given to help HR become more strategic to ensure an organization’s human capital contributes to overall business objectives. More details are available online describing how to move from a traditional approach to strategic human resources management.
