Abstract: The popularity and functionality of ISO 9001 is beyond reproach. But the last iteration of the standard included only a handful of changes, which made sense considering a number of major industries were in the process of implementing ISO 9001. In this Standards Outlook Column, John E. "Jack" West reports that concern is growing about the standard's ability to remain relevant, discusses possible changes to the next revision and estimates when that revision will take place.
