Abstract: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] An alternative is proposed to the standard plan to assess measurement system variation that uses a random sample of parts to measure repeatedly. The proposed plan is conducted in two stages. In the baseline stage, a number of parts are measured once. In the second stage, a number of extreme parts are remeasured a number of times. The advantage over the standard plan is demonstrated by comparing the bias and standard deviation of estimators of the intraclass correlation coefficient. A method to determine sample size for the proposed plan is also presented.
