Abstract: With the number of quality tools available it can be daunting for quality professionals who are just starting out to know which ones to select to begin assembling their quality and improvement toolkits. The "Quality Tools" link from the ASQ Web site lists 29 individual tools grouped in 8 categories. The complexity is increased because some tools show up in several categories and there are additional tools and techniques that did not make the ASQ list. The following approach identifies three powerful tools that will aid improvement efforts through the basics and beyond.
