Abstract: The Joint Commission, a not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies healthcare organizations and programs throughout the U.S., recently initiated internal improvement projects using lean and Six Sigma to boost efficiency, lower costs, and improve operations. In addition to starting its own Green Belt and Black Belt training programs, five internal programs were initiated to improve the organization and benefit customers. The Joint Commission understands the importance of applying the same in-house improvement ideas that it promotes externally.
