Abstract: Six Sigma and lean are two very popular concepts that can be even more successful if integrated. Together, the two concepts create a new way of working that is more powerful and effective than each of the concepts individually. This paper includes a comparison between Six Sigma and lean, a deeper discussion about strengths and weaknesses of the two concepts, and strategies for integration. The paper presents how lean tools and methodology could be integrated into Six Sigma to create a successful Lean Six Sigma program, and how tools and methods from Six Sigma could be integrated into a lean production system to create an effective Six Sigma Lean production system.
