Abstract: Nearly 200 Six Sigma practitioners surveyed recently by Minitab identified eight top reasons that Six Sigma projects fail. Responses were categorized into 41 common themes found in the answers, and were weighted by a factor of two or three, based on the participants’ years of Six Sigma experience. The survey reveals that Six Sigma success requires selecting the right project, gathering the right data, linking the project objectives clearly to the corporate business goals, and gaining adequate process owner and management support.
