Abstract: In order to accomplish its goal of becoming one of the top three research universities within the next decade, the University of Minnesota must continue to encourage talent. In 2005 the university created the Transformational Leadership Program (TLP) to tap internal potential for leading strategic process improvement projects and improving performance results across the system. TLP also develops a new skill set, language, and energy critical to cultural change at the university. The TLP transforming strategy is centered on selecting the right projects, the right sponsors, and the right people who will build university talent and elevate the university’s competitive position.
