Abstract: Workplace spirituality, while not necessarily religiously driven, embodies the basic concepts of the spiritual mind-set – acceptance, understanding, consciousness, and peace. Although this trend has a positive influence in the workplace, those who misunderstand it can present a potential threat. Some of the threats for spiritually-attuned workers are reviewed and alternative actions to counteract these threats are considered. Experts in the field of spirituality are cited to support the theory that spirituality and emotional intelligence are interconnected. The online extension of this article provides insights from six workshops that studied spiritual behavior in organizations and links to articles addressing spirituality, emotional intelligence, and related topics from ASQ’s Body of Knowledge.
