Abstract: A rapidly changing world makes the prediction of forces affecting the future critical, lending strategic advantages to organizations that do it successfully. ASQ’s 2008 future study identifies the key forces that will shape the future of quality, describes how the forces might unfold, and determines the implications for organizations and the quality field. Participants identified seven forces, the most significant of which are globalization, social responsibility, and new dimensions of quality. The study’s purpose is to provide a focus for a series of dialogs to be held around the world. Documented patterns and themes will be used by ASQ to determine future strategy.
