Abstract: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] Best practices have been established for the development of software within an organization, but new challenges are encountered with the introduction of service-oriented architectures featuring loosely coupled systems that could involve multiple organizations. Collaborative issues must be considered when testing these systems. The PerfSONAR project features a set of loosely coupled Web services that perform and manage the measurement of network performance in research backbone networks. A release management process has been developed for the transition of this service into permanently operating services. This process and its corresponding support structure are described. Lessons learned in this project are applicable to similar projects using service-oriented architecture.
