Abstract: Companies with the fastest profit growth emphasize innovation. To become successful innovators, companies need leading indicators focused on people and processes in the organization. It is important to maintain a mix of all types of people as the innovative process progresses. Once the strengths and aptitudes of its people are established, an organization must evaluate its innovative management system by looking at each of its elements and identifying opportunities for leading indicators. The purpose of the measuring process is to ensure innovative efforts will bear fruit. A sidebar article offers one company’s experience in measuring innovation.
