Abstract: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]
The universal foundation of leadership is the Chinese principle of tien ming, or Mandate of Heaven. It offers the advantage of organizational commitment, in which stakeholders willingly subordinate their interests to those of the organization. A leader who holds the Mandate commands the respect of subordinates through the mutual benefits of the relationship. Leaders earn and retain the Mandate of Heaven through service to their stakeholders.
