Abstract: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] Technometrics was founded nearly 50 years ago as a forum for publishing statistical methods in engineering and the physical and chemical sciences. Since then, the expanding role of statistics in industry has fostered the publication of many articles in the journal motivated by industrial problems. Ten experts with varying backgrounds share their thoughts on the future course of industrial statistics. Independent essays written by the panelists in response to a list of ten questions have been combined into an integrated discussion. The discussion is meant to encourage an open forum discussion via a web site hosted by the American Society for Quality.
