Abstract: Defense and aerospace systems supplier Raytheon uses a proprietary Six Sigma process as part of its Catalyst Engagement initiative to identify and select bottom-line oriented projects. Each project is led by a manager chosen through a process called social network analysis (SNA) that identifies informal employee networks. SNA sociograms are used to identify the best-connected employees and leaders for the Catalyst Engagement projects. In addition to making Catalyst Engagement as productive as possible, SNA helps Raytheon capitalize on opportunities, resolve problems, and meet its strategic goals.
