Abstract: Change at the organizational level requires using more than one change management approach. Success calls for addressing the strategies, skills, and structures that must be aligned in order to achieve the desired outcome. A seven-step model is presented that draws from the best practices of existing change management methodologies. The steps include mapping out what needs to happen, creating urgency by shocking members of the organization into the realization that the status quo is not acceptable, and then alleviating the anxiety by sharing the change vision. Final steps are to implement the change, sustain the momentum, and stabilize the environment into its new state. The expanded scope of this model increases the likelihood of achieving lasting change.
