Abstract: As part of an earlier process-improvement initiative to develop standard processes for project management, Intel’s IT group introduced quality assurance audits to help measure the progress in process compliance and improvement. By 2007, the number of standard processes had increased markedly while audit resources remained constant, and management wanted the same level of compliance measurement for each project. Managers were provided with a simple scorecard that used criteria defined in existing audit checklists as a basis. The widespread acceptance of this easy-to-use tool throughout the organization has enabled Intel to move process compliance from being audit-driven to a process the entire organization owns.
