Abstract: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.] Outsourcing in a global economic environment is considered a good strategic move because it allows an organization to focus on its core competencies. However, internal ties that used to exist between business functions will be stretched to other parts of the world, making communication more difficult to manage. A framework for understanding knowledge management, as well as some of the barriers to and solutions for applying it in a supply chain is discussed.
