Abstract: [This abstract is based on the authors’ abstract.]Many software developers are unaware of the high cost to industry and business of inferior software quality. At the Ecole de Technologie Superieure in Montreal, Canada, software quality assurance is taught in a software engineering undergraduate curriculum based on the Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge. Courses stress the concept of the cost of quality and cover a wide spectrum of quality assurance techniques and tools. Students have an opportunity to measure cost of quality and work with industrial software quality assurance techniques and tools. The program provides a model upon which other universities can design their own software quality course.
