Abstract: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]By using statistical tools, many of the problems encountered in the design, production, and delivery of products and services can be avoided. Statistical concepts allow decisions to be made proactively, eliminating causes and reducing variation. As a result, quality is improved, costs are reduced, and customer satisfaction increases. Sampling and histograms reveal the extent of variation, while process control charts and capability metrics show what the customer will see, helping to prevent customer dissatisfaction.
