Abstract: With as much information on the subject of career development as there is available today, the real challenge is recognizing that you, not your employer, are responsible for your own career development, and then finding a structure to guide your plans. This requires a clear vision statement, education and training, a career ladder, and a hierarchical certification structure. Many other factors also come into play when planning one's career moves, some of them beyond your control, but one thing is certain. Without a personal career vision and everything that supports it, reach your potential will be even more of a challenge.
