Abstract: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]A new perspective on Six Sigma quality is presented that may be used to help define key characteristics, process capability, and to evaluate overall product quality using a loss function. The study's focus is the use of this perspective on process capability and the ability to meet the customer's product specifications. The perspective defines component and process quality based on the probability of meeting product specifications rather than the individual component feature specifications.
