Abstract: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]A quality control chart is proposed that is useful for implementing total quality management/Deming principles in performance appraisal when workers' ratings are categorical on the ordinal scale of measurement. The chart can help management understand the cause of variation among workers and distinguish between the common causes and the special causes affecting a particular work system.
