Abstract: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.] MCNP is the Monte Carlo N-Particle radiation transport code whose history goes back to the early days of computing. From its simple beginnings, its uses have grown to include a wide variety of fields and over 3000 international users. This paper describes how the software quality was maintained in the past, how the process is being improved today, and directions for the future.
