Abstract: This abstract is based on the editor's abstract.
Implementation of a process improvement strategy to produce a well-defined software process can be difficult for small companies with financial resources. This article discusses a generic method based on quality function deployment that can be used by small software development companies to devise their own software process improvement strategy. Implementation of the method, the software process matrix (SPM), is demonstrated in a case study where changes to organization, customer management, and project management processes are emphasized.
