The Internet Challenge to the Quality Profession
The Internet, offering an exciting array of
cross-cultural freedom of expression, is the most complex
software and hardware network known. It is also known for
its frustratingly poor quality and lack of reliability. Classic
quality practices must be focused on Internet processes in
order to establish software and hardware configuration standards
that will not restrict freedom of expression but will provide
enhanced service for users, Internet service providers (ISPs),
network administrators, and Web site owners.
Key words: configuration control, fishbone diagram,
Internet, process definition, quality systems, standards,
