Six Sigma In the Academic World
Rick Edgeman (rick_edgeman@rhsmith.umd.edu) directs the Quest Honors Program at the University of Maryland (UMD). Previously he was full professor and director of the Saber Institute for Self-Assessment and Business Excellence at Colorado State University in Fort Collins and a visiting professor at the Aarhus School of Business in Aarhus, Denmark, and Luleå University in Luleå, Sweden. He has a doctorate in statistics from the University of Wyoming
in Laramie. He is a member of ASQ.
David Bigio (bigio@eng.umd.edu) is an associate professor of mechanical engineering and Quest curriculum director at UMD. He has a doctorate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He established the Polymer Processing Laboratory at UMD and he has been the principle investigator for two National Science Foundation programs.
Measurement System Analysis and Destructive Testing
Keith M. Bower (kbower@minitab.com) is a technical training specialist with Minitab Inc. He received a masters degree in quality management and productivity from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Bower has conducted training courses for firms including GE Capital, American Express and Motorola. He is a member of ASQ.
Douglas Gorman (dgorman@minitab.com) is a technical training specialist with Minitab Inc. Prior to joining Minitab, Gorman worked as a manufacturing engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt for Eaton Corp. and a product engineer for General Motors Delphi Harrison Thermal Division. He received a masters degree in engineering design from Arizona State University in Phoenix.

Robert G. Launsby (robertlaunsby@aol.com) is president of Launsby Consulting. He is the co-author of four books and co-developer of DOE Wisdom software. He has been involved with design for Six Sigma implementation ar five different organizations during the last three years. He has a masters degree in industrial engineering. He is a member of ASQ.
Charles B. Huber (Charles.B.Huber@seagate.com) is currently leading an effort to deploy design for Six Sigma at Seagate Technology. He has a masters degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.

Gregory H. Watson (Gregbss@aol.com) is the former chairman of ASQ and is managing partner of Business Systems Solutions Inc. Watson is a member of the International Academy of Quality, Fellow of ASQ, Six Sigma Master Black Belt and ASQ certified quality engineer. He holds masters degrees from the University of Southern California (in systems engineering) and the law school
at Antioch University, Seattle (in legal analysis).
