US to Offer 4.5.3 Rewrite With “No” Vote on ISO/DIS 14001

The key objection to ISO/DIS 14001 in balloting among members of the US TAG to TC 207 concerned the wording of Subclause 4.5.3, Nonconformity, Corrective and Preventive Actions. The US will be submitting votes of approval with comments on ISO/DIS 14004 and of disapproval with comments on ISO/DIS 14001 based on TAG balloting and consensus-building within SubTAG 1 on the comments to be submitted. However, the US vote of disapproval on ISO/DIS 14001 will be accompanied by a proposed rewrite of Subclause 4.5.3 that may mark an historic milestone in US standards deliberations. Information on those deliberations, the issues with 4.5.3 and other comments to be submitted are provided.
