US Vote on ISO/DIS 14001 Remains Uncertain

Despite the efforts of the US delegates to obtain improvements in the revisions to ISO 14001 at the TC 207 meeting in Bali, a review of an unofficial draft of ISO/DIS 14001 by US SubTAG 1 in August 2003 left open the possibility that SubTAG 1’s leadership will recommend a “No” vote on the DIS. This report on the August meeting of the US TAG to TC 207 provides coverage of the revision of TC 207’s scope, US SubTAG 1’s review of the DISs of ISO 14001 and ISO 14004 and an update on the drafting of the three parts of ISO 14064, which will provide guidelines on GHG emissions reduction reporting. Also included is a look at the changing of the TAG’s leadership and a tribute to outgoing Chair Joe Cascio.
