The IDEAS Q&A is aimed at providing a variety of perspectives on requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and the challenges they present to users. Question 13 is: How does an organization ensure that the QMS is developed with the intent to run and improve the business processes, in keeping with Clause 4.1’s requirements? How does it demonstrate that the planning activities for the QMS are carried out in order to meet the requirements given in 4.1? What evidence will auditors seek to determine if Top Management is using the system to run and improve the processes? How do the auditors determine if the Clause 4.1 requirements were given consideration within the planning activities?
