Applying ISO 9001/4 to Financial Operations
James W. Kolka writes that, in the vast majority of organizations, the
scope and reach of the QMS ends short of its financial operations. While
ISO 9001 does not provide a great deal of direction to, or any requirements
for, financial operations, that doesnt mean a QMS cannot or should
not be applied to the financial operations of a company, and ISO 9001
and ISO 9004 provide the way to do it. Kolka examines how an ISO 9001-registered
organization can expand the scope of its existing QMS to include its financial
operations, even if it means creating an FMS outside the registered QMSs
scope. He also identifies those clauses/subclauses of ISO 9001 and ISO
9004 that would be useful in establishing an FMS or in integrating finance
into the corporate QMS.
