US Transition Passes 15% as Total ISO 9000 Growth Jumps
Although ISO 9001:2000 registrations are increasing rapidly,
accompanied by healthy growth in overall ISO 9000 registrations,
the contribution of 1994 conversions is not as large as the
"transition" numbers might indicate. Registration
data for North America through March 18, 2003, is examined
for ISO 9000, QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and three ISO
9001-aligned sector standards. While ISO 9001:2000 certificates
near 10,000 in North America and top 6,000 in the US, and
ISO 14001 figures rise rapidly, the 1994 certificate numbers
remain high. But the data does not support a rejection of
ISO 9001:2000. Registration data tables, figures and analysis
are included.
