Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standardization Activity
John C. Shideler writes that, although WG 5 of TC 207 was
expected to address comments on the WD1s of two GHG emissions
standards in a March meeting, WG 5 decided instead to address
more fundamental and strategic issues. A key agreement was
to develop a single standard to consist of three parts. While
comments on the original WD1s were not directly addressed,
Shideler notes that a significant portion were addressed at
least in principle. The outcome of the unusual WG 5 approach
is consensus on the content and direction of the three parts
of ISO 14064. Shideler reports on the strategic issues, results
achieved in Malaysia and expected path of future ISO 14064
development.
