Hall: Clarification of Intent Is Focus of Interpretations
The US TAG to TC 176 and other P-members have had the chance
recently to comment and then vote on 6 draft and proposed
"interpretations" of ISO 9001:2000 under a new process
implemented in October 2002. Yet none have been made available
so far to the ISO 9000 user community. The reason is that
the ISO TMB is expected to vote on a final recommendation
in May 2003. Morgan Hall explains that the ISO/TC 176 Interpretations
process is intended to provide clarifications of intent of
ISO 9001:2000 in those instances where the requirements are
unclear, and he and others provide a detailed look at that
process and who would use them.
