90%+ Estimated to Have Made the Transition

Despite some predictions that large numbers would allow their certificates to lapse, a sampling of registrars reveals that 90-99% of their clients made the transition to ISO 9001:2000. However, it appears a huge number of final audits occurred in the last 6 months. This report provides responses from four registrars regarding transition rates since June 1, the role of and reasons behind new registrations, why some did not transition, whether some will make the transition after the deadline, the impressions of users with ISO 9001:2000 and the greatest challenges ahead with ISO 9001:2000. Also included are the latest registration figures and information from another registrar about the fact that not all certificates expired at the deadline.
