ISO/IEC 17025 Undergoes Amendment, Not Full Revision
Peter Unger writes that the future of competency requirements for testing
and calibration laboratories will involve alignment with the “principles”
of ISO 9001:2000 by way of “amending” the present accreditation
criteria that are aligned with ISO 9001:1994. However, the amendment to
ISO/IEC 17025:1999 will not require labs to be in full conformity with
the QMS requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Unger reports on the amendment
being drafted by ISO/CASCO WG 25, which may be published by July 2004.
