The ISO 9001:2000 PSI IDEAS Q&A—ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001

The PSI IDEAS Q&A process is aimed at providing a variety of perspectives on requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and the challenges they present to users. The eighth question is: How are organizations implementing and using ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996? Is it easier to use ISO 14001 with ISO 9001:2000 than it was with ISO 9001/2:1994? What are some of the advantages gained and difficulties faced from implementing and using ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 together? Are any complications created by the fact that individual registrar auditors serving certain sectors are not qualified to audit both the QMS and the EMS?
