The ISO 9001:2000 PSI IDEAS Q&A

The PSI IDEAS program has launched a Q&A process aimed at providing a variety of perspectives on requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and the challenges they present to users. Question this month are: Have the requirements for evaluation of suppliers or vendors contained in ISO 9001:1994 changed much in the 2000 edition? What are some common components of an effective supplier evaluation system as far as ISO 9001:2000’s requirements? What are some examples of outsourced processes that an organization might need to consider controlling to satisfy the requirement in Clause 4.1, General Requirements, and what will registrars be looking for in terms of that requirement for control of outsourced processes found in Clause 4.1?
