DaimlerChrysler Sets July 2004 Tier 1 Deadline

Four months after ISO/TS 16949:2002 was published and just before the release of a joint letter from the Big Three stating that the TS will replace QS-9000 in December 2006, DaimlerChrysler issued a letter requiring its suppliers worldwide to transition to ISO/TS 16949:2002 by July 1, 2004. The deadline affects 3,000 QS-9000-registered Tier 1 suppliers to the Chrysler Group and suppliers to those Tier 1s, which will need to obtain ISO 9001:2000 registration.
