Say Good-Bye to QS-9000, But Only After Some Good Planning
In a presentation in Indianapolis, Joe Bransky of GM indicated
that the SQRTF has reached an agreement with ISO that permits
use of ISO 9001:1994 in QS-9000 until December 14, 2006. Two
key reasons for the delay in transitioning to TS 16949:2002
are a strong desire by the Big Three to avoid a bottleneck
among suppliers making the transition and to make transitioning
a value-added process. Bransky provides a look at the transition
options and current and future OEM directions. Information
is also provided on the benefits of transitioning to ISO/TS
16949:2002 now, concerns with present levels of QMS conformance
in the supply chain and next steps.
