Information or Data Systems: The Role of IT in Continual Improvement

Stewart Anderson writes that ISO 9001:2000 now requires what almost all organizations already do–collect and analye data about their processes. He examines the problems with data vs. information and how IT systems are not being used properly to obtain information. Anderson also presents an approach to moving from raw data toward intelligence so as to foresee the impact of potential actions and make effective business decisions.
