Improving QMS Learning Curve for Educational Organizations
Fausto Estevez Ramirez and F. Craig Johnson write that, by
conforming with ISO 9001:2000, educational organizations can
enable teachers to take ownership of learning processes, enable
administrators to establish process goals and enable supporting
staff to maintain and share best practices. Estevez Ramirez
and Johnson provide details of the effort that has led to
IWA-2, which provides guidance on the application of ISO 9001:2000
in education. They discuss why additional guidelines are needed
for education, the key challenges of ISO 9001:2000 for educational
organizations and how IWA-2 will address them and whether
the present use of ISO 9001 in educational organizations suggests
an effective QMS implementation approach and one that will
result in more effective schools.
