ISO/TC 207 SC1 Meetings: ISO 14001/4 Revisions Move Steadily Toward 2004 Finish

Connie Ritzert was the US Delegate to SC 1 and served as the US Expert to WGs 1 and 2 in Kuala Lumpur. Phil Stapleton from the US Delegation was appointed Convenor of WG 2, replacing Joel Charm of the US Delegation who is retiring from that post. They provide a report on the annual plenary meeting of ISO/TC 207 which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, June 30-July 8, 2001. The focus of attention was on the revision of the two core EMS standards–ISO 14001:1996 and ISO 14004:1996 which are making slow but steady progress and are on track to be completed in 2004. Both WGs are in a very important stage in the revision, developing the first WDs of the first revision of ISO 14001 and ISO 14004.
