Finance to Be First ISO 9001-Based Service Sector Standard
On April 19, 2001, representatives from 15 financial services
organizations convened the first session of the "FS 9000
Association", which has as its goal the rapid development
of FS 9000. FS 9000 is expected to be drafted by the second
quarter of 2002 as a financial services sector-specific QMS
standard aligned with ISO 9001:2000 and containing industry
QMS metrics. Brian Hettrick details the expected characteristics
of FS 9000 as an international quality and risk management
standard for the industry, its anticipated benefits, the challenge
for the sector in the use of ISO 9001 and registration and
the next steps in FS 9000s development.
